The "Bibliothéque Généalogique de France"
A private center of research for social history,
an Association sponsored by the City of Paris
with the support of the National Library, the Mazarine, the Library of the Arsenal,
the National Archives and the Library of the Pompidou Center.
Our Association was created in 1986 by Colonel Etienne Arnaud the
author of the
"Repertoire de généalogies françaises imprimées", by François-Jean Mallein and by Philippe de Chastellux.
The "Bibliothèque
Généalogique de France" :
- associate of the French Genealogy Federation
- is a center for the preservation of genealogical documents and for
providing assistance to genealogists. Our mission is to safeguard the French patrimony through fostering
the collection of documents pertaining
to the history of all families, regardless of social standing and from all regions of France. For this reason,
many amateur and professional genealogists have deposited copies of their works in our library
to assure their preservation and permit their communication.
